If the one wearing the space suit was built with red eyes and looked like a gray skeleton (like the fake robot below it), would that change what you expect from its mind? Would you expect it to think or act differently? That's why they built it to look that way.
Do you really think the robot above can not get a small upgrade to its hand to allow it to hold small objects like bullets and the trigger of a gun? They built it with those big hands so you wouldn't think about it holding a gun, but its a really easy upgrade.
I know http://www.darpa.gov (USA's most advanced technology department) has motivation to design an army of robots to fight their wars for them, because each robot that fights in a war means 1 more person who does not have to risk his life, and I know they have the technical ability to build a smarter robot brain (or software simulating a brain in a computer in the robot's head) because I know how to do it too, and such advanced things are described in my software design documents, but unlike DARPA, I know (at least in theory) how to use simulated brains for things other than killing and spying.
Those robots are only science-fiction, but science-fiction tends to become a fact faster than most people expect because most people do not understand how technology works therefore can not predict what technology can be created next.
Don't forget the most important part: Who is telling the robots to kill or not and where to go. Anyone who has ever played a military strategy simulation (they are sold at game stores) knows that computers are much better at strategy than people. Why not let the computers choose what the robots do in battle? It will still be controlled by the higher up politicians. Wait.... aren't they paid off by the businesses who build robots to focus on other politics issues instead of war? War isn't important. Let that go on for a few more months while we talk about the economy. At that point, there are no Humans in the loop.
They wouldn't surprise us by creating an army of robots that use automated strategy software, would they? They would announce it publicly, because the people of a country (and of the whole planet) should know about such important things. In fact, DARPA publicly says they would not tell us if they were going to do that. I'll quote from DARPA's website: "DARPA’s mission is to prevent technological surprise for us and to create technological surprise for our adversaries." They couldn't surprise their adversaries if they told us, therefore they are saying they would not tell us. Since they have motivation to do it, the technical ability to do it, and have publicly announced that they would not tell us if they were going to do it, the only reasonable conclusion is that they're secretly designing and/or planning armies of killer robots with automated strategy software. Anyone who is not suicidal would do something about it.
If that's not enough proof, then this should do it. The president of USA in year 1961 warned us that this might happen. People did almost nothing for 49 years, and now when we're close to World War 3 fought with automated strategy software controlling armies of robots with guns, people will probably still do nothing. How can you look at the similarity of those 2 robots above (1 fake and 1 real) and say it won't happen? They're almost identical.
If the Human species can see its own extinction coming and go back to watching TV and doing tedious tasks at work instead of trying to think of a way to avoid World War 3, then maybe the Human species is too dangerous and it would be best for scientists not to give their leaders the technology necessary to win wars. We wouldn't want to expand our wars to killing half the alien species we find, would we?
Theres a lot of technology that I think about inventing but then I stop and think about something else, because I know what governments would do with it eventually, but I did recently figure out how to build one thing that can be used for peace but not for war, a technology far more powerful than an army of terminator robots. If somehow they stopped progressing toward World War 3, there would be no need to use this technology to access the minds of the military people from a distance (using the quantum nonlocal effect in strategic patterns and combinations). Unlike most people, I do something when I see extinction coming, so it won't happen.
Isn't technology slowly killing us? It makes sense in evolution-that technology would slowly kill us all and not need a user.
