Where forward thinking terrestrials share ideas and information about the state of the species, their planet and the universe, living the lives of science fiction. Introduction
Featuring Powers of Ten by Charles and Ray Eames, based on an idea by Kees Boeke.

I have been working on a study about the interaction of humans and technology. I won't reveal much because if you have the time, I would like you to answer some questions, some of them would seem kind of obvious, cliche, naive, etc. Just please try to answer them in an open and honest manner. (There is no relation between the questions).

1.- If your computer could do your work by itself, without you having any input on the work and no authorship. How would you feel? How do you think you would feel in the long term?

2.-Imagine this scenario: You cannot leave your home and your computer/internet is the only way to communicate with others? How would you feel? (and yes, you have food)

3.- Do you feel you have a special bond with your computer? Why?

    Thank u all.

I had a strange feeling when I saw one of the "animals" walking in the beach.

I have a fixation with Italian cinema.
So here you go, because Belucci is better than Mastroianni... (at least in looks)

Good energy to all of you.

This is a very naive post. I usually do a lot of research on a subject that interests me, from vagal reflex to Britney's performance but this time the subject of good energy/bad energy comes to my mind. I don't need to do research...the truth is that I don't want to. Because it is something very basic yet very complicated, there's not one single area in which the concept of energy or opposites doesn't apply. It can get very messy to explain it.

Since childhood I've heard stories where the bad witch creates a potion or spell to harm somebody, only to discover that by some law of the universe all the harm she intended for another person, comes back to her; seven times more powerful. I don't remember the name of the story, and maybe it was something my grandma came up with.

In something so basic and ridiculous as that story as example, let me say: If there is a bad witch, so there must be a "good witch" or a good side or a good energy.
The bad witch can be called "bad" because she is not good. And the other witch or side can be called "good" because it's not bad. From there I understand that those two concepts give meaning to each other. So the existence of both is absolutely necessary for the world to work.

Well, I've been asking myself the question, Which one is stronger? Good or Bad?
In human interactions, which one is stronger? A cheery person in a room? Or the one that tries to make our lives miserable?
In biotechnology, Are there more things that make our lives better? or Are there more things that could destroy us?

I want to think that good is stronger. But again, it all depends on the context.

“If we had a keen vision of all that is ordinary in human life, it would be like hearing the grass grow or the squirrel's heart beat, and we should die of that roar which is the other side of silence”

    George Eliot

I went for a walk today and started thinking about perception. It felt like a walk, but it was actually a drive on the PCH towards Newport Beach.
    About perception:
The perception is incompatible with consciousness, because "perception" is created based on the existing mnemic traces. The mnemic trace is suppose to be like a mirror of an elementary reality in a hyper complex construction. When we perceive things, we obviously not just perceiving them based on whatever situation we have in front of us, but based on the impressions that already exist in our unconscious memory. It is very basic, all data we've learn we use to create and process new information, and it keeps growing and growing...the more information we take, the more information we create.

A"brake" in the information, in the logic order would cause an "erosion" of person hood, but it would also open the door to perceive things in different ways, or to perceive new things.
It's fascinating and frighting to desire the machine to have a small inconsistency. It would be like being a totally different person, maybe exceptionally brilliant, maybe absolutely crazy, or a person who believes to be an alien who came from another planet.
At the same, I've never felt attracted to the kind of people who pretend to be different just to be different. Different without the sense of adventure or discovery. I would be in just to see if the world it's really how we know it, of course, I probably wouldn't be aware of that after the switch is turned off, and on again.

    Happy to be on board...

And now, the first and last poem I post, by my favorite Uruguayan poet Mario Benedetti...

    Don’t remain immobile
At the edge of the road
    Don't freeze the joy
    Don't love with reluctance
    Don't save yourself now
    or ever
    Don't save yourself
    Don't fill with calm
    Don't reserve in the world
    Only a secure place
    Don't let your eyelids fall
    Heavily as judgments
    Don’t speak without lips
    Don't sleep without sleepiness
    Don't imagine yourself without blood
    Don't judge yourself without time.
    But if
    in spite of everything
    You can't help it,
    And you freeze the joy,
    And you love with reluctance,
    And you save yourself now,
    And you fill with calm
And you reserve in the world
    Only a calm place,
And you let fall your eyelids
    Heavily as judgments,
    And you speak without lips,
    And you sleep without sleepiness,
And you imagine yourself without blood,
And you judge yourself without time,
    And you remain immobile
At the edge of the road,
    And you save yourself,
    Don't stay with me.
