    Digital Skins Body Atmospheres

Digital Skins Body Atmospheres from Nancy Tilbury on Vimeo.

"A Fashion Futures Film set in 2050. Couture becomes a biological experience, gowns are assembled by gas and nano-electronic-particles, where tailoring and cosmetics are constructed by 3D liquid formations, including swallowable technologies exciting the mind, body and soul through physical expression. It is a time when couture will be cultured and farmed as fashion facets of human flesh. A Fashion Futures Film to provoke...

"This Film encompasses the work of Interdisciplinary Fashion Designer Nancy Tilbury and Visual Artists 125 Creative. It's narrative is formed in partnership with Philips Design, Probes Director Clive van Heerden as well as specialist concepts in the area of Living Skins with the Design for Need Expert Amanda Sleet.

"The Digital Skins Team also included, Alice Moore - Make Up & Prosthetics, Mr. Murdoch - Graphic Designer, Matt Owen - Editor FMG."

    - - - Nancy uses fashion design in a broad sense to explore technological atmospheres in and around the body. She deliberately blurs the boundaries between the separate areas in traditional design by devising new concepts that takes a fresh and open‐minded look at fashion design that always connects back to the human body.

Nancy Tilbury designs experiences in the field of intimate body technologies.

    The Zeitgeist Movement

Until last week I’ve never heard about (or didn’t registered) this movement before. I tried to study and understand the complete meaning (intentions, documents, films and all) before this post, but according to The Zeitgeist Movement, today is the Zday and I think is a good reason to mention this Z, despite of… Don’t know what.
And also a good reason to know your opinion about this movement.

    At a glance:
The Zeitgeist Movement is a worldwide grassroots movement advocating social change, most significantly that of society transitioning from a monetary based economy to a resource-based economy.
    Seems interesting!
They are in favour of using technology and science to ensure that everyone's basic needs.
    Perfect!

Probably there are points to disagree wtih the movement but I stopped the reading (not at this point) and start to see how hard it is for me join movements, specially political ones. So I checked where in Brazil will happen the celebrations and surprisingly in e i g h t places, yeah… There are Zeitgeisters here as well. (I’m not going to anyone.)

Well, I have no answers for my silly questions - are many popping here and there. I just want to make a parallel illustrating this post with another recent reading. The connections are money and science.

Wish you all a happy Z day!

I'm working with a tedious group of people at this moment. People who I can't have a single interesting conversation. They're disgusting and I'm counting the days to the end of this job.

Yesterday I got myself singing a David Bowie song which is relevant not only to post on my blog. Well, I think so...

The original track - performed by Tin Machine in 1989 - is pretty much intense, but not legally available on internet to post here.

    I Can't Read
    David Bowie + Reeves Gabrels

    I can't read and I can't write down
    I don't know a book from countdown
I don't care which shadow gets me
All I've got is someone's face

    Money goes to money heaven
    Bodies go to body hell
    I just cough,
    catch the chase
    Switch the channel
    watch the police car

    CHORUS
    I can't read shit anymore
I just sit back and ignore
I just can't get it right,
    can't get it right
    I can't read shit
    I can't read shit

When you see a famous smile
No matter where you run your mile
To be right in that photograph
    Andy where's my fifteen minutes

    David Bowie (*1947)
Is an English artist with numerous visionary works

    Enjoy and sing together

Possible New Careers Emerging from Advances in Science and Technology (2010 – 2030)
    Final Report | 149 pages | January 2010

    Fast Future pdf

The top five roles that respondents would most like to see materialise were:
Old Age Wellness Manager / Consultant
    Vertical Farmer
    Nano-Medic
    Climate Change Reversal Specialist
    New Scientists Ethicist

"The response to the global survey suggests these roles can individually and in various combinations make a significant contribution to tackling the care challenges of an ageing society, feeding a growing population and maintaining and enhancing our health. They are also seen as essential to giving us greener mobility solutions and reducing the impact of dangerous climate change. Finally they are expected to help us survive and thrive in the cyberworld, whether through legal protection, counselling or management of our virtual data and ‘personal brand image‘."

A good reading for a long and too hot weekend. With a prosperous vision for Brazil — > could emerge as one of the world's leading scientific powers by 2025.

    Them
    by Danny Treacy

    2002 - Present
    178 cm x 215 cm
    Editioned Lambda Print

"... They are us and they are Them..."

"... They are made from recovered clothes, collected from those lonely places - the woods, the wasteland, the car-parks..."

"... They are re-stitched and re-fashioned: re-modelled into junk monsters..."

"... They are the figments of his imagination and desire..."

"... They are nightmares of the catwalk, prowling around the outskirts of style's dumb extravagance...”

"So if you never read OUT OF CONTROL, here is a user-generated remix that shortens and focuses the book. You can read it on Lloyd's website or even download the PDF. (And here on kk.org as well.)

"However, if you liked BOOTSTRAPPING COMPLEXITY, you may also want to try my "long-winded" original version with lots more stuff. It is available as web text and a free PDF as well."

Kevin Kelly's book Out of Control is a fascinating book full of fascinating ideas reaching across the board from artificial intelligence, evolution, biology, ecology, robotics and more to explore complexity, cybernetics and self-organising systems in an accessible and engaging way.
