That picture illustrates that point perfectly. This building is out-of-place, surrounded by dirt and roads covered with said dirt. It looks fancy on paper, but the huge contrast between the surroundings and the building itself diminishes it a little. If the entire area was developed with more of such buildings, it would be great.
I absolutely love the ideas behind it, especially the using of solar energy to create a greenhouse effect of sorts to heat the interior (since it gets mighty cold in Beijing), but the implementation really stands out too much from the environment.
Someone, however, should keep note of the technology used in this building, it is still very useful.
Note: Doesn't it look like any other factory in the morning to anyone else, or is that just me?
Such buildings are really bringing out the best in China, pushing the architectural scene forward.
However, it is right to say that it does not at all fit in the environment!
