    Evolution of the Species
Read an interesting piece over the weekend about how we are actually still evolving on a genetic level as a species, despite scientific opinion over the last fifty years claiming the contrary.

Always wondered whether our next evolutionary phase will be to actually move beyond the physical into a more spiritual context...

or maybe that's just a little too deep for a Monday afternoon!

That would be ideal, but unfortunately, there are too many people who don't believe that or can't even fathom the thought of it...

Unfortunately, many are stuck in this materialistic world full of empty promises and some even hide behind their religion thinking going to service one day a week then being completely oblivious to the fact they hurt, steal, manipulate to get their way...

I'd love to see this spiritual evolution. I am all for it.

I love this idea! I think it's only natural that we would evolve beyond our physical form. It may sound over the top, but as we continue to use up our resources on this particular planet it would make sense to me that we would genetically prepare ourselves for existance and expression on metaphyscial level.

    One dictionary definition of consciousness:
The fact of awareness by the mind of itself and the world : consciousness emerges from the operations of the brain.

I actually like to think of consciousness as being somewhat separate from the brain, or rather in conjunction with the operations of the brain. Without the brain I still feel as though we remain conscious on some level- the brain is simply a mechanism that allows us to recognize our consiousness in the physical realm.

folkert has a great post on this topic.

That's because, if true, it would have already happened a long time ago and we are in some kind of material reservation for lost primitives.

sounds like hell to me ;) but if this is hell, then i'm lucky!

actually first people got tired of the shallow image of the church, misunderstood by their leaders apparently (or not?), then people get more and more tired with the materialistic pleasures, guess what comes next... if it ain't outside, where do we look next? especially when we have the laws of the universe in mind... eventually we brake all the laws as they bound us, thus we evolve, destroying the world of the egg, to appear in the outside world as Hesse says.

    My body is a cage
    that keeps me
from dancing with the one I love,
but my mind holds the key...

Beauty is the way, you can feel it through art...

thanks to Izzy for this TED video...
