notthisbodyFri, Feb 6, 2009 First of all, thanks for the images! I especially find the anemone very beautiful.
I've been doing a little research into generative art lately. I'm somewhat clear on the concept of setting rules, laws, working with particle generation, etc.
Is there a way to input datasets into Processing? or any other similar program? I'm really not very clear on what I mean myself, but I'd almost like to see Processing work as a visualization engine in which some of the 'rules' are defined by the semantic information input into the algorithms, and gives a semantic information output. I think the output's important. Again, it's the way you write the algorithm that determines your output. Then you could explore data solely visually, create your art there, then examine the data outputs, and what sense is made by forms, textures, etc. Or just examine the data outputs, then see it visually...knowledge art.
I read a little bit you can create 'feedback' on a generative system, interacting with the system as you go...so is generative knowledge art customized visualization of interaction with information?

dunno. what are your thoughts?
