actually, modular structures is hand work, it is just some rotations around one pivot point - very easy
On the other hand mathematicians from department of biology tried to help me in way how to reorganize elements from one form to other (for example: from box to sphere).. but it is pretty hard

for other images I used some predefined functions of 3dsmax, l-system plugin and pfspliner script, also voronoi script in rhino...
