Brian Jones (UK) and Bertrand Piccard (SUI) successfully circumnavigated the globe in the Breitling Orbiter 3, a Rozière balloon, landing in Egypt March 21st, 1999 after 19 days, 21 hours, and 55 minutes in flight. This was the first circumnavigation flight by a balloon.

The Breitling Orbiter 3 cruised in the jet stream at altitudes ranging from 23,000 - 43,000 ft.
The higher altitudes dictated the use of a pressurized cabin, or gondola.

The 2.25m wide by 4.0m long cabin had a small kitchen, a bathroom, and sleeping alcoves for the two pilots.

After their successful flight, the gondola was placed in the Smithsonian Institution, National Air and Space Museum, Milestones of Flight Gallery.
