Project: Branding the Species
Our teacher made us go to the lawrence weiner exhibit at the MOCA in Los Angeles, and wants us to write about it. So let's go. Lawrence Weiner is a conceptual typographic artist whose work was mainly created during the late 1960s. The exhibit, as far as the eye can see was extremely minimalistic: pretty much just a blank white wall with text on it. I did start to understand his approach. With a piece that is as plain as words on a white wall, your mind has to do all of the interpretation. It's almost meditative if you pay attention to how your mind interprets what is on the wall.
