Where forward thinking terrestrials share ideas and information about the state of the species, their planet and the universe, living the lives of science fiction. Introduction

My current project is an experimental animation. On this web page, people can see only the latest three frames of the animation and they can paint their new frame on the top of it. The pictures will be merged to a 10 minute film. website: experimental collaborative animation

Maze is a complex structure [maze, mase, amaze] with complicated branching in order to cause bewilderment. A labyrinth is closely related, however, contains no choice of path, but a single route leading to the centre. Janos Erdos, 2012 August, Budapest

Orientation is a basic property of our space. Directing a structure clockwise or counter-clockwise determines its nexus to the environment but not its inner working. This problem of chirality creates the self-rearranging frameworks in metamorphosis. The experiment shown in the animation is an example for such self-restructuring.

The nature of the logarithmic spiral contains the subject of implicite infinity. That is, the distance from the origin of a point is growing exponentially in the function of the rotation parameter. For an other approach, however, the rotation of a point is growing in a logarithmic function of its distance from the centre. Either of the two give the same curve with a finite length and limited boundary.

Any shape that is built up of straight line segments can be spiralized by replacing the edges with such double spirals. Shrinking the whole figure proportiopnal to the change of the side lengths will give constant area. This process also keeps tessellation properties.

Recursively replacing segments of a spidron shape may produce an interesting point set which also tessellates the plane. Janos Erdos Jr. Budapest. 2012 June.
