Final Renders
The final sequence was rendered in Maya using raytracing and global illumination. The particles were converted to highly detailed meshes using Realflow. The final viscosity and density was set to 1 and the resolution to 200. Gravity was animated over time as well as a spherical attractor force pulling the water. To create the initial motion of the water under regular gravity conditions, a planetary force was created to mimic the gravitational pull of the moon.
FLUID SHADER = GLASS SHADER
It turns out that the best looking 3D shader for fluid is actually a glass shader. Due to the reflective and refractive quality of glass. A glass shader is used as the surface and lighitng caustics for fluid. This is a test render for a glass shader used for fluid via XSI.
REALFLOW SIMULATION FIRST SECOND
This is the initial simulation calculation for the force attraction Daemon of 3.5. The trick of creating a dancing fluid is to create several daemon parameters over time and position. RealFlow is a fluid dynamics simulation which specializes in simulating liquid particles/meshes. The next frames of the animation deal with the fluid suspended in the air.

Water particles via RealFlow and Maya. Test Render for water caustics and fluid dynamics under Zero Gravity Conditions...changing constant parameters for results. Next step is global illumination and CG water shader after animation is locked.
ZERO GRAVITY WATER
The installation will demonstrate the metaphysical properties of water in its entirety. Throughout many centuries of art, water has been studied, sketched, painted, and symbolized countlessly. Gaston Bachelard pioneered phenomenology and has written many texts on the metaphysical properties of water and dreams. Water is linked to the subconscious and the divine; a necessity for all life.
The water installation will remain calm until the spectator claps and initiates the rise of the water. The water would rise and counter-rotate, creating interesting zero gravity formations like it would in space. I am currently checking the order of the technical back end of the installation with Realflow

CLAPPER = UNMOVED MOVER
I will be collaborating with Joe Liao to create an interactive video installation titled, Clapper: Unmoved Mover. The installation room will project a calm body of water onto one of the walls as the spectator enters. The water will be created via Maya and Realflow (fluid dynamics software). The clapper was the most recognized infomercial for its time in the 80's and early 90's, a future product which would turn on and off appliances by the sound of a clap.
