I hate to steal the punch bowl, but...
Space Collective is a rousing party, and I hate to steal the punch bowl, but after the death of a schoolteacher in the Challenger disaster, I can not see NASA ever putting civilians in space again. At the time I thought that Justice might investigate NASA for criminal negligence. By good luck or good connections, NASA dodged that bullet, but the agency will probably not take that risk twice.

Ah, well...I suppose that there is always the "X orbiter".

    Your thoughts?

I believe NASA will only send astronauts into space. I believe space tourism, at least for many years to come, will remain a private business.

Technically, Barbara Morgan was no longer a teacher when she left Earth on the Endeavor a few years ago, but she was the runner-up teacher in the Teacher in Space project...behind Christa McAuliffe.

As much as we would want a gov't agency to send people into space, democratically, publicly, I agree it probably won't happen any time soon. We know that NASA isn't perfect. I mean, Michael Griffin? Drunk astronauts are always better than teachers.
