new national gallery
my interest in the national gallery is the fact how it deals with the floor; that the building has a very introverted underground space with this small private garden, versus the very extroverted ground floor that is only about views;
the small garden generates a kind of encapsulated landscape which will be also relevant for my project in space since garden views always will have to be created artificially
the two images show thoughts about possibilities of creating an introverted versus an extroverted space
villa rotunda
what mostly interested me in palladio's villa rotunda was the views from the central space to the outside which cuts the room adjacent to it; the view runs through the smaller room, making it unrecognizable;

the views along the circular line always have all architectural features within one surface because the floor in the distance turns into a wall or a ceiling. this is something I want to play with
villa savoy
my point of interest on villa savoy are the three different spatial relationships between the inside and the outside of the three levels;
1.)the ground floor wants to be penetrated by the outside (circulation around)
this scheme would be transferred to large communal meeting places
2.)the first floor is about views from the inside to the outside
this scheme would be transferred to working environments
3.)the rooftop terrace is about views from the inside to an artificially generated outside
this scheme would be transferred to private accomodations
