    Now playing SpaceCollective
Where forward thinking terrestrials share ideas and information about the state of the species, their planet and the universe, living the lives of science fiction. Introduction
Featuring Powers of Ten by Charles and Ray Eames, based on an idea by Kees Boeke.

[SUPERCRITICAL FLUID: A supercritical fluid is any substance at a temperature and pressure above its thermodynamic critical point. A supercritical fluid has both the gaseous property of being able to penetrate anything, and the liquid property of being able to dissolve materials into their components. Used as a substitute for organic solvents. ]

-supercritical water: supercritical water oxidation used to oxidise hazardous waste, eliminating production of toxic combustion products which burning can produce. Also, oxygen-saturated supercritical water combusts organic pollutants efficiently.

-power generation: hydroelectricity produced by hydropower. Comes from water driving a turbine connected to a generator. (renewable, does not produce co2).
-water jet cutter: tool capable of slicing metal or other materials using a jet of water at high velocity and pressure. Used in a variety of industries, from mining to aerospace where it can be used to cut, shape, and carve materials.
-used to cool machinery to prevent overheating
-steam turbine: extracts thermal energy from pressurized steam and converts it into useful mechanical work. about 86% of all electric generation in the world is by the use of steam turbines.
-heat exchanger: A heat exchanger is a device in which energy is transferred from one fluid to another across a solid surface. They are widely used in space heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, power plants, chemical plants, petrochemical plants, petroleum refineries, and natural gas processing.

-pollution: Discharged untreated water from industrial uses. Discharged solutes is chemical pollution. Discharged coolant water is thermal pollution. Industry utilizes a variety of water purification processes both for use and discharge.
