    Everything has scaffolding
    plus programming
    and dynamos
    and matter
    and energy
    and pattern
    and motion
    and exchange
    and spatial position
    within the sequential unfoldings and foldings that we call time.


    Conscious and Subconscious scaffoldings are the constructs and concepts that determine and define where and how we organize our comprehension of our systemic world. Proof Process is such a scaffolding. The scaffolds scale from macro to micro, from tight foundations to complex lattices.

    Matter and Energy scaffoldings, the Corporal scaffoldings, are the generative and dynamic forms and frames that determine and define where within a system something exists, connects, exchanges, changes, replicates, activates, integrates or grows. These scaffolds scale from macro to nano, from rigid to flexible to entirely robust.

    A city is a scaffolding. An economic system is a scaffolding. A tree is a scaffolding. A molecule is a scaffolding. A perception or understanding is a scaffolding. I am a scaffolding. So are you.

    Spiders may build a web. Build themselves.

    Humans build an Internet, roads, skyscrapers, nanotubes. Build themselves.

    Life forms build proteins and cells. Build themselves.

    Atoms and molecules build compounds and physical objects. Build themselves.

    Input + Exchange builds Output.

    There are invisible and unknown scaffoldings that compose the universe and determine and define its existence and function.

    Each of us are our own unique scaffoldings.
    Our body scaffoldings.
    Our conscious and subconscious perception scaffoldings.
    Each of us has our own unique experience with the scaffoldings of the universe.

    And we exist and interact among and within the entire spectrum of scaffoldings.

    If we could take a quintillion megapixel 3D hologram of you right now that would contain all that exists in and around you in your room, and all that exists beyond your room that interacts with you right now, and we could filter and zoom that photo any way we wanted to (layers, dimensions, size, activity), what do you think we would see? What do you think we would learn?

    Would we see all the scaffoldings?

    For conscious and subconscious scaffoldings, the hologram image set would not be relevant. You can light up my brain but cannot see my thoughts or derivations. We would need to invent a visualization engine that constructs systemic models of our conscious and subconscious programming, sensory input, memory, processing and behavior.

    This is what we are building with our Visual Y project – a visualization engine designed to represent the systems and complexity of mental constructs and the constructs of matter and energy that take a tangible form.

    There are 6 systemic variables that determine what we put into and onto our bodies.

    First, our parents and caregivers control what we put into our bodies from conceivement to adolescence. Second, the food and personal care products industries research, develop and produce the processed choices for us. Third, our culture and life experience, media and education contribute to our programming. Fourth, our body has specific and general programming, usually subconscious, that influence our choices. Fifth, we can exert a continuum of conscious control over what we put in and on our bodies, ranging from all to none. Sixth, the collective marketplace, including regulation, determines the dynamics of availability, composition, labeling, price and accountability.

    We believe that a comprehensive Nurture, Equality, Truth and Systems viewpoint of ingredients requires a proof process that assesses each person’s body specifically, that tracks the quantity of the product ingested or absorbed, that identifies accurately all ingredients- the processes, mechanisms and secondary resources used to produce the ingredients, the availability of alternatives and the judgement across a spectrum of multivariate factors as to whether any ingredient, or any mix of ingredients within the product or associated with application, has the relative and absolute probability to cause harm that reduces the potential of a component or system in a human body.

    We believe that any product placed in or on our body that our body has not been programmed to exchange with poses an unacceptable risk. We believe that we do not adequately understand our bodies and the complete systemic consequences across time of using most ingredients, including raw unprocessed products.

    What we present to you is a tiny beginning effort to initiate what we call a proof process. This is a diligent, comprehensive effort to understand systemically what we know about ingredients, and what we think poses risk. All of the stakeholders, including the consumer, can then make their own decisions about what to put in and on their bodies.

    Our hypothesis, based upon patterns of information but not yet realized with a comprehensive proof process, is that many ingredients that we use, including some flagged in this analysis, contribute to damage to human beings that can be most easily recognized as autoimmune diseases, cancers, heart (arterial) disease and brain disease. Further, our hypothesis is that nanoparticles pose risk, petrochemicals pose risk, certain genetic alterations pose risk, and no amount of these ingredients are safe. Not only do ingredients interact with what we think of as our bodies, but these ingredients also interact with the human biome and with each other, and often carry trace amounts of the chemicals used to process them that are not accounted for on labels.

    The following is a simple beginning. If you like the direction we are headed, join in.


    I’ve chewed gum my whole life. I chewed gum when I was bored, when I was hungry, when I was in school and when I just wanted to chew gum. The whole time I thought I was chewing natural gum. It wasn’t until I researched the ingredients in my go-to gum brand Trident that I realized I was chewing rubber.

    Other than sorbitol, a sugar alcohol, the main ingredient in Trident is Gum Base. Gum Base is a trade secret, which means that Trident and other gum manufacturers aren’t required to reveal the exact composition of Gum Base. We will never know exactly what it is.

    However, Wuxi Yueda Gum Base Manufacture Co, Ltd, a gum base manufacturer, have stated that their commercially sold Gum Base is made of raw materials, “which are food grade SBR rubber, ester gum, paraffin wax, polyvinyl acetates, talc powder, and calcium carbonate powder.”

    My curiosity of what I was actually putting in my mouth, chewing and swallowing didn’t stop at just Gum Base. Instead, I researched and examined all of the ingredients in Trident White Gum.

    Sorbitol, Gum Base, Maltitol, Mannitol, Artificial and Natural Flavoring; Less Than 2% of: Acacia, Acesulfame Potassium, Aspartame, BHT (To Maintain Freshness), Calcium Casein Peptone-Calcium Phosphate (Lactose-Free Milk Derivative), Candelilla Wax, Sodium Stearate and Titanium Dioxide (Color).

    What I found was unnerving. Gum Base, BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene), candelilla wax, and titanium dioxide all pose health threats when you consider what they are, how they are processed and how they are ingested, inhaled, absorbed, or in any way consumed.

    Gum Base, as stated above, could be made of SBR rubber, ester gum, paraffin wax, polyvinyl acetates, talc powder, and calcium carbonate. Below you will find the beginnings of a detailed proof process of the health concerns for the ingredients that make up Gum Base.

    Talc can cause pulmonary issues, and it is also linked with lung and ovarian cancer. Talc is labeled as a Group 2B carcinogen- “Possibly Carcinogenic to Humans.”

    SB Rubber can cause skin irritation and should not be ingested on inhaled.

    Polyvinyl Acetate is manufactured with vinyl acetate. The World Health Organization’s (WHO) cancer research arm found evidence suggesting that vinyl acetate caused tumors in rats and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) believed that trace amounts of vinyl acetate could make it into the gum base material.

    Paraffin Wax ingestion can lead to intestinal obstruction, which can cause abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and possible constipation.

    When taken together all ingredients that make up Trident reveal a potential health threat that we think all gum chewers should be aware of. Below you will find the beginnings of a detailed proof process of the health concerns for the ingredients that make up Trident.

    BHT is a chemical derivative of phenol. Phenol is corrosive to the eyes, skin and respiratory tract and can cause dermatitis, second and third degree burns with excessive contact. Phenol can also damage the central nervous system and heart, which can results in dysrhythmia, seizures, and comas.

    Candelilla wax is obtained by boiling the dried stalks of the candelilla plant (Euphorbia antisyphilitica) in water acidified with sulfuric acid to release the wax. Through inhalation, ingestion, skin contact, and eye contact sulfuric acid causes irritation to the eyes, skin, nose, throat; pulmonary edema, bronchitis; emphysema; conjunctivitis; stomatitis; dental erosion; eye, skin burns; dermatitis; tooth erosion; and respiratory tract irritation. Drinking sulfuric acid can burn your mouth, throat, and stomach; ultimately resulting in death. It is not clear, yet, whether trace amounts of sulfuric acid remain in the wax.

    Titanium dioxide has been associated with lung cancer and the IARC labels it as a Group 2B carcinogen- “Possibly carcinogenic to humans.” Titanium dioxide may contain nano particles that are potentially highly damaging to genetic and cellular material but little research has been conducted on how nanoparticles disperse and interact in the human body.

    It is important to note that there is a substantial lack of research and knowledge when dealing with what ingredients, chemicals and products actually do to and in your body when consumed, inhaled, or absorbed.

    At Y Worlds, we hope that these models will inspire others to investigate what they are putting in their bodies and investigate other systemic questions using a proof process.

    I have never curated a retrospective on the activities that have occupied my life, and I am just beginning to compose a plan for the future occupation of my life. There are scores of metric, systemic and philosophical ways to view human lives.

    Nicholas Felton gives us a unique glimpse into his life that we share with you today. His captures inspired me to do some simple lifeline calculations and perhaps you too will pause to think about where you have conducted your life and where you are headed. Keep in mind that time is only one dimension of our lives.

    Lets take a moment to explain Y Worlds before we emerge from our chrysalis this Spring.

    Over the past two years, we have been developing a global cooperative scaffolding that we believe will eventually ignite and support a self sustainable world – becoming a model, a generative enterprise and a change agent operating beside the worlds we have inherited.

    Our scaffolding, always a work in progress, consists of our Nurture, Equality, Truth and Systems model set, our semiotic language for the representation of knowledge, meaning and complexity, our first generation Visual Y generative engine, our daily.yworld.com posts culminating later this year in The Book of Y, and our sustainable enterprise gameplan that includes a consultancy, an alternative cooperative investment system, and high value initiatives focusing on such topics as food production, health and small scale entrepreneurship.

    The Y Worlds team is putting together a very large funding proposal that we will be introducing later this Spring to a carefully selected group of philanthropists, foundations and societally committed venture firms. We are always exploring people and organizations who may benefit from mutual coordination and support and exchange.

    We believe that in order for large scale change to occur there needs to be a major recalibration of our language, our objectives and principles and our understanding of systemic complexity plus there needs to be the invention of a compassionate collaborative mechanism to organize ourselves toward our potential.

    A Y Person walks into a bar.
    YP has a couple brewskies to tame the rainy frenetic day.
    Soon, it was time to go to the toilet before grabbing a taxi home.

    The worries begin.

    The toilet door has a simple twist lock in the middle of the inside doorknob.
    It looked very worn and untrustworthy. Did the slight twist of the lock really lock the door?

    Z Person comes to the door. No sign of occupancy visible. Shakes the knob and door. Tries again even harder to get in. Both YP and Z have instant anxiety. Luckily, no mutual embarrassment today. The lockset holds.

    Back to Y Person. A proven worrier.
    The faucet was a twist faucet that required the grip of YP’s hand before the soap. Germs?
    The soap was a push and catch. Back of the hand to push. Soap. Rinse. What was in the soap?
    Did the soap clean off everything?
    Then tighten the faucet. More germs? Wash hands again?? No way!

    Then air dry. Don’t touch anything. Were germs in the room blown back onto YP’s busy hand?

    Now the door handle. The dreaded door handle to get out. Round. Has to be grasped. Surely massive disease carrying germs are happily dancing on the grasping hand?

    But before exiting, YP’s conscious goes into overdrive. Where did the waste water go?
    Into the river? Into water treatment and back into drinking water? What does the fluid pipe transit look like – does it travel miles? More questions fly into YP’s mind.

    Suddenly, YP walks to the bartender, grabs a napkin and pen next to the free stale peanut mix, and begins writing. Here is the note left by YP on the bar for all to see.
