    altered states (1980)

i stumbled upon altered states last night via netflix and would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed 2001: a space odyssey. it has a very similar tone and visuals.

i went ahead and snatched up some screencaps of interesting parts of the dialogue. cheers.

    and for good measure:

I stumbled upon this on netflix as well. It's extremely weird and also very funny (unintentionally so). Best watched stoned.

yes indeed. i was sober as a boy scout when i watched it, but wondered how much more freaky it would be while intoxicated...especially that montage during the shaman ritual.

i'm gonna hunt down the book, cause i'm curious to see how it was supposed to end. i'm sure that ridiculous hollywood ending wasn't intended.
