"Human"ity
If I could take a guess, I would say that the creation of the H+ would involve multiple generations of birthing pangs for humanity as a whole. Sure there will be definite benefits on the whole, but if you dig dystopian story lines as much as I do, and with that in mind, take a look in the past. I could never imagine a seamless transition from a purely natural human society, to one that is fundamentally changing considering major advances in science and technology, also major advances in culture, society, human rights, in the past.
The definition of human is; our physical and mental limits, the way we have interacted for thousands of years, and not to mention how authority is defined and governed. Humanity will change immensely even at our core levels, if genetics continues to advance the way it has in the past ten years, the H+ wont be any more "human" than we are as much chimpanzees.
I might be taking the slightly more ugly position, but you might want to take all of the major advances (everything, technology to industry) and consider how much of an effect it will have. Ethics wont even really apply be applicable (even though I consider ethics to be a huge crock).
I'm just wondering if the human advance will be more like civil rights than the renaissance.
