I think the most interesting aspect of it is that the player actually plays the role of matter's drive for evolution, awakening some of the aspects of vitalism in philosophy. The exhortation -featuring in the game trailer:
"to realize that you (as player) have always been behind all of this (meaning evolutionary stages)"
as engaging as it may be, it re-invites a subject, designer, authority in a bigger cosmological picture. Can we imagine a next-gen game comprising REAL-TIME self-organizing processes, getting the player out of the decision, manipulation, control loop, and ultimately letting the game eventfully fold in itself?
