Spiral growth and crystal growth both create patterns but with very different attitudes towards matter. Crystal growth is a pattern while form transiting from one phase to another (nucleation, i.e. liquid to solid). However spiral is a pattern in a form traveling system in response to time and space (conformation) and it also shows how life can repeat itself mindlessly.
