patterns of thought, visualizing thought
*over a span of time
*a specific thought
*a way of communicating beyond words
*what kind of a thought
*emergent properties of emotions?
ideas:
*use galvanic skin response to asses peoples
social patterns, movement through space
*you have to decide on criteria for behavoir
ideas:
*draw a line with the mouse across the desktop as you use your computer for different spans of time and for different people
*give two people given a GPS unit to see how many times people actually cross each others path
set two agents on a path
mutual path
how many times they cross each other?
plot points of intersection
should there be markers? locations that they could theoretically be moving between?
how big is the space?
example: Jeremy Wood GPSograph INFORMATION

conways game of life
*what criteria causes something to die off?
ideas:
*add criteria
*if you have no neighbors but you won't die
*if you have two neighbors you will die
*triumph of the loner
vehicles
*use internet traffic to certain websites to move vehicles
life from very simple processes
perceiving things we otherwise couldn't
cumulative
taken as a whole
greater than sum of it's parts
emergent social behavoir

[stanza]
could my everyday processes create life
conways game of life

1thought // how is social behavoir coded, how can this be dealt with creatively through computer code?
this is a really broad question, and I found several projects through visual complexity that i felt worked with this idea in some way or another
Biomapping Sketch Info and
applet
This project was more about the behavoir of the nervous system in response to environment, something I may want to try in a later project.
This is most obviously related but less interesting visualisation of the social patterns in the Culture virtual environment, part of the Quest Atlantis universe.
GPS as a drawing tool
what if you were actually asked to draw something recognizable together without looking at it. Having to move as an image together?
another GPS related idea inspired by the anime series Platonic Chain:
give two people given a GPS unit to see how many times people actually cross each others path
set two agents on a path
mutual path
how many times they cross each other?
plot points of intersection
Another interesting project: live support systems - vanda is an attempt to analyze electrical signals from the vanda hybrida orchid, and apply language modeling techniques to these signals in a computer.

This representation shows the connectivity of the 10,000 neurons and 30 million connections that make up a single mammalian neocortical column, the basic building block of the cortex. The different colors correspond to different levels of electrical activity.

The Bio Mapping project allows the wearer to record their Galvanic Skin Response (GSR), which is a simple indicator of emotional arousal in conjunction with their geographical location. This can be used to plot a map that highlights point of high and low arousal. By sharing this data one can construct maps that visualise where a community might feel stressed and excited.
