Then came the industrial revolution with the new tallest buildings (the skyscrapers) becoming the new central locations of power. "Cathedrals of Commerce" as Emile Zola coined them. And now, with the rapid advancement of information age technology... one can argue that power and knowledge is no longer held by a select few in places of religious or corporate power. Agreed! The internet is the new cathedral!
