    Sun

Winters are pretty dark here, some days I'm not sure the sun even rises. So, I built this lamp. It's on a timer, and functions to keep the circadian rhythm intact.

Progress and innovation let us build a world that departs increasingly from the environment for which we evolved. To resolve the mismatch between our genetic disposition and the world we build, we must either adapt our environment or adapt ourselves.

Also, all hail Bukminster Fuller for the geodesic sphere design at the heart of this device.

Nice one! I gotta get myself access to a 3d printer...

Makerbot is good if you have more time and desire to tinker than money, but budget a couple hundred for upgrades. Otherwise, RapMan and "Up!" are supposed to be like more expensive and user friendly versions of the MakerBot. Up! seems to be highly recommended.

Beautiful, I love that the timer functionality.

You should pitch it to Medvedev, whose decided to solve the problem of darkness by fiddling with time zones.

Apparently animal therapy programs have become popular in Russia to combat depression in the Winter months.

Your lamp + regular swims with a Dolphin seem like a perfect cure.

Seems like everyone is 3D printing lately... I have access to one for a few more months but haven't had any reason to use it.
Plus I'm feeling intimidated: I hate making molds, and never used any 3D software :/

    Anyway, this is awesome.

Do you think 3D printing as a medium is a fad, or just the beginning of a stable trend, like document printers in the home ?
