In the 1970s space colonies were considered to be a viable alternative to a life restricted to planet Earth. The design of cylindrical space...

a first 3d trial for the space collective ,,,
i am trying now to add some muscles to it.

*this model was developed out of plans and sections,
    based on the program organization

in this version, the long body is flipped horizontally (the new program is living) and the other programs arrange along it, following the logic of the previous 'space collective' diagram, with same spatial effects. this time, the symmetry which has as ax the crossing body, is eliminated, considering the effects of gravity.

    note

the programs pack a long organ with an entity of its own which runs through the entire body and houses program (offices).

    • the case of the space collective::: this results in an organism which has a horizontal organisation which is cut by a vertical one. the vertical one offers a wide range of spacial qualities due to its changing views, lighting conditions and volume.

    • the case of the training center::: the organism is split in two parts( a public one and a private one), horizontally organised. the two are connected by the same vertical body.

in both cases, there is a differenciation in terms of mass and density (according to what program they house) which happens along the spine, in crescendo.

    • distortion of the double symmetry by differentiation of mass and densities

    • connecting two types of structures (vertical and horizontal), two types of spaces (open and fragmented)

    • taking inspiration from FLW, the floors/ceilings frame views, while fragmented volumes punch them to create a variety of spaces
