How can we promote awareness and the Truth to those that seek outside to find what's really inside?
Art?
nagashTue, Dec 1, 2009Permanent link It's sad that many future tragedies will not be avoided simply because people cant react to danger until it is in your face. no matter how loud we stress the current social, ecological and energy issues of the planet... most people just don't care, and will not care until the water reach their feet. then, it will be too late, of course, but that's what it takes to a global awareness: global tragedy.
don't get me wrong, I do believe we must keep fighting... at least, I will.
this "doom" you talk about can not be avoided in many respects, but we can think forward to it. like the people that are freezing and storing coral sample from all varieties and species. It's already a fact that coral reefs will vanish from earth in the next decade. so, we better secure the means so we can rebuild them in the future... maybe.

I think Art does have that ability, but for that inside transformation to take place it requires more than just seeing a picture, hearing a song or reading a poem to make the lightning strike, though I can't rule out that it hasn't happened for some. I assume most folks here would agree that their "awareness" has only arisen after some extended period of time of pouring effort into themselves. Right now I think humanity's time is limited.
Maybe a better question to ask is: how can we bring about this awareness in a short enough period of time so that we can institute the change sooner rather than later?
Maybe someone can create music that triggers some resonance between our brain waves and those of our Earth or universe thereby promoting direct enlightenment. Now that would be awesome.

Though it saddens me to see our coral reefs and rain forests disappear in front of our eyes, I know that long after humans are dead and gone Earth will still be around, revitalizing itself, flourishing with all sorts of brilliant, new life. My concern is not so much protecting our current natural habitats as it is protecting the most advanced forms of life on Earth...us. But in doing so we are not only providing ourselves with a better life, but we are also saving the rest of the planet.
weatherThu, Dec 3, 2009Permanent link i stand by my answer.
i believe that true art can be far more abstract than a picture, poem or song and can deliver something far more potent than an image, statement or message.
As a performance artist I've learned that the interpretation of art is relative, however I believe that a true artist is less concerned of the critique or interpretation that his/her material will receive and more with process of creation. The act of creation.
The artist is God if their expression is pure and fluid. This is an expression of Truth, regardless of the material.
I am interested in the medium of performance and improvisational art to communicate this. A performer is being witnessed in the act of creation. I think that the presence and the flow of the artist in a moment of unfiltered pure expression has an energetic resonance that breaks down the filters of others and brings them into the experience of the moment.
Think of the compassionate loving energy you feel when you're around an 'enlightened' human being.
Maybe this is idealist, but if you, as an artist or mystic or whatever have the ability to bring someone into the experience of the moment, is that not a profound catalyst for change?
Art brings awareness which thus brings change?
Check out my newest post...i tried to express this more eloquently.

I completely agree.
Last night I uploaded a new post and made a similar comparison about how I write by what I feel, just as you seem to do with your art.
Even though a poet's expression is pure and fluid, that doesn't mean that anyone who sees, reads or hears the work, automatically feels how the poet does, no?
For example, I wish my family and friends could really understand how I feel about what I feel. I could express myself to my utmost ability, yet I can't infuse compassion into them.

weatherFri, Dec 4, 2009Permanent link of course, however the realization of the existence of said 'door' can be a giant leap for some.
HelloAlexCLSat, Dec 5, 2009Permanent link I think the kinds of differences in thought between the kinds of people you mentioned are somewhat superficial. There is a rigorous rationale (rationality, reason) that both "types" share. I think the task we face - as the immensely powerful superorganism we've become - is to recognize the common motivation we all share. This motivation is synonymous with planetary purpose. I think this will occur naturally, perhaps when we recognize our collective power - bestowed upon even the single individual or small groups of individuals by the progress we've made as a species (think about the threat of superviruses, terrorism, nuclear weapons). This recognition, as one might imagine, may come at a great cost. I think we stand at the brink of a copernican revolution of the mind from an ego-based cognition to a collective intelligence. I wonder how "human" this collective intelligence will be, though, and to what degree it already exists.
HelloAlexCLSat, Dec 5, 2009Permanent link By the way, the picture you used fits so perfectly with what you say in your post, and with what I said in my comment too.
InfinitasSat, Dec 5, 2009Permanent link I have been thinking about the idea that all humans are on a natural and distinct path of evolution. Unless we ultimately destroy ourselves, then we will just reach higher levels of consciousness. In this respect, every person would be on a sort of conscious, spiritual journey, whether they realize it or not.
HelloAlexCL, you mention a common motivation a towards this collective intelligence. How do you think we will recognize our collective power? Some are more motivated than others, and there are many who will, seemingly, never become aware. But I wonder if this awareness will happen regardless of attitude. Could there be something lurking in our subconscious, attempting to manifest itself without our knowledge?
I can't imagine that every person on Earth has to wake up for this collective intelligence to come to fruition, so it seems logical that there is a sort of tipping point. Once enough people become aware, then it is only inevitable for everyone else to join in.
weatherMon, Dec 7, 2009Permanent link kind of like a caterpillar just mysteriously knows to start building a chrysalis
HelloAlexCLFri, Dec 11, 2009Permanent link What I meant was that a collective intelligence could arise once a planetary purpose was recognized. Although I remain optimistic about our future as a species, I'm sort of pessimistic of how we'll recognize our own power. I think it's most likely to occur through the result of a disaster or a series of disasters. It could be something like the outbreak of a manmade supervirus, a virus that might kill us or an integral part of our ecosystem. Most likely though, it will be climate change. When environmental conditions of our own agency make much less of our earth inhabitable to us or plunge the world into dispersed warfare, people will wake up to their own power and thus potential.
@weather I had a similar thought when I was looking at a spiderweb the other day.
