Ok...this might be a bit out of place, but I'm posting it nonetheless. It's a quirky video on downtown LA. The editing is a bit hard to watch at times (too much, too fast makes me dizzy), but I found it to be an good example of developing interest/fascination out of the most mundane of things.
Dust and dirt rise, settle and spin on an empty lot.
A massive city sprawls like an embossed array of LED’s.
The wind is desert hot and pooling at a point where the ocean breeze can only look.
Small barefoot feet walk on dirt that is littered with broken glass, small stones, and bits of city waste.
A young feminine voice is humming...
Liza has lived her eighteen years on the Electric 6 space station. With a sudden realization that her every need is met through machinery and prosthetic contraption, she begins to wonder if such a complete dependence on technology is necessary.
This is the story of Liza: a space station resident in a struggle with...
Summary: An atheist of science, who has been expelled from his space community because of his unacceptable declarations, searches for the traces of sciences and technologies invasion by going back to earth, where it started.
It has never been called as an invasion until now. I am probably not the first one...

“The light of memory, or rather the light that memory lends to things, is the palest light of all. I am not quite sure whether I am dreaming or remembering, whether I have lived my life or dreamed it. Just as dreams do, memory makes me profoundly aware of the unreality, the evanescence of the world, a fleeting image in the moving...

What was it? Does it matter? Does it ever? Sometimes it does. Certainly, there are states in life when even a passing glance alters reality. It’s the whisper a dying parent lays into a child’s ear. Was that the last great secret or another empty pledge. It burns a path into the viscous channels of our psyche and starts to massage the enamel...
I am a monster. Ordinary, yes. Human, yes. Plugged in even, active as I am on eleventh hour. But I’m not modified like you. I’m a cyborg, but only because I hold the phone to my chest, and look at the warps, and check a little too often who’s...

What if we started by unraveling the space between matter?
Try to stop and build on the silence.
Is our essence tucked into the margins of our devices?
What happens when we look to rebuild from the beginning?
Our first breath, step, laugh, wiggle.
Can we transubstantiate the form?
Can we predict the position...
- excerpt from the New York Times, The Universe, Expanding Beyond All Understanding
"Forget the implied mortality of our species and everything it has or has not accomplished. If you are of a certain science fiction age, like me, you might have grown up with a vague notion of the evolution of the universe as a form of growing...
Sonoluminescence is the emission of short bursts of light from imploding bubbles in a liquid when excited by sound.
Sonoluminescence may or may not occur whenever a sound wave of sufficient intensity induces a gaseous cavity within a liquid to quickly collapse. This cavity may take the form of a pre-existing bubble, or may be generated...

The surrealists believed that objects in the world possess a certain but unspecifiable intensity that had been dulled by everyday use and utility. They meant to reanimate this dormant intensity, to bring their minds once again into close contact with the matter that made up...
The space colony was launched in 2097 by a group of private investors looking to escape from the uber-conservative politicians on earth. As more and more ecological disasters occurred in the early half of the 21st century, earth’s leaders moved to quickly advance their technologies. But, instead of using technology to promote a...
This space habitat was started as an alternative culture in opposition to the growing conservatives who are promoting a sterile earth. The group is not opposed to technology; rather they embrace it as a way to promote healthy environments. They are opposed to the way in which technology is used on earth as a constant enemy to the ecology. The...
