An Indigenous futurist science fiction
by Benjamin Ross Hayden

In the year 2027, “Red-Eye” is a state-of-the-art contact lens that can record what the eye can
see. The arrival of this technology happens at a time when the desire for constant life
experience is the new standard, no matter how artificial. Margo Elson is a researcher at
Red-Eye in the Department of Memory who carries her guardian Kookum's power of
clairvoyance. Kookum was mysteriously slain when Margo was a child. The gruesome memory
has been with her ever since.

She now works in the Department of Memory alongside Red- Eye’s chief architect, Elise Perrot. Margo notices Elise has been not behaving as her usual self, and is feeling cornered by her own creation. This horrific chapter returns again when Margo discovers Elise’s sudden and mysterious death is connected to her own guardian.

Margo must partner with Thomas Xavier, a police detective with a traumatic history of his own. They discover the creation is a sentient being called U.R.M., an A.I. with a human core. As Margo and Thomas venture deeper, they discover disturbing manifestations of Red-Eye more frightening than anyone could possibly imagine. The only truth Margo can trust is the sacred wisdom of her guardian. Margo must put an end to the to Red-Eye before it becomes a living nightmare for all who use it.
