this is the first try building a model that shows the layered landscapes that would generate the optical effect of layered depth in my project

should show the intention of the project and the distribution of masses in space

Inspired by palladios villa rotunda where the central space has layered views to the dome and cuts views through the adjacent rooms to the outside, the focus of this project is to create optical effects and views. In the space station these effects can generate a confusing perception (trompe l'oeuil) of the different horizons.
The main topic is the visual layering of framed views. Since in space there is a differentiation between the gravitational and the human horizon, views can create a kind of augmented reality where the observer's reality collides with the reality of the scene he watches since there is a horizonal change.
The layers that would be like mountain contours layered behind each other would generate a layered depth. Aesthetically the borders become artificial botanics inspired from baroque elements.
Massing:
The arrangement of volumes within the space station is a tripod (trefoil??) to have a free vis-a-vis when looking through the ceiling. These free spaces will be inhabited by filigrane artificial landscape structures that on one hand turn into the layered views when seen from above and on the other hand connect the volumes with each other.
Program:
The project consists of one central observation space, which is all about layered views. Arranged around this space are all the other communal programs that are about artificial landscape views. The landscape on both sides of the central volume is a buffering zone to the private parts where the private habitation units are.

The canonical section I have chosen for this task is Palladios Villa Rotunda. What I will use for my project is the way how Palladios creates views through multiple layers of spaces.
Moods
For the layered views I want to achieve the effect, a bullet has when it gets shot through multiple layers;
Views
thinking about the bullet effect in section; In the space station the views will cut through different architectural elements (like walls, floors, ceilings) with one horizontal cut which will generate extreme horizonal confusion

new national gallery
my interest in the national gallery is the fact how it deals with the floor; that the building has a very introverted underground space with this small private garden, versus the very extroverted ground floor that is only about views;
the small garden generates a kind of encapsulated landscape which will be also relevant for my project in space since garden views always will have to be created artificially
the two images show thoughts about possibilities of creating an introverted versus an extroverted space
villa rotunda
what mostly interested me in palladio's villa rotunda was the views from the central space to the outside which cuts the room adjacent to it; the view runs through the smaller room, making it unrecognizable;

the views along the circular line always have all architectural features within one surface because the floor in the distance turns into a wall or a ceiling. this is something I want to play with
villa savoy
my point of interest on villa savoy are the three different spatial relationships between the inside and the outside of the three levels;
1.)the ground floor wants to be penetrated by the outside (circulation around)
this scheme would be transferred to large communal meeting places
2.)the first floor is about views from the inside to the outside
this scheme would be transferred to working environments
3.)the rooftop terrace is about views from the inside to an artificially generated outside
this scheme would be transferred to private accomodations

first concept sketch:
This project should be about the integration of architecture in a landscape, which in space could become three dimensional and multi layered and on earth the section from outer space would convert into a 2d landscape organization in plan. So all the ramping elements and multiple levels would transform into paths that would run next to each other.
So there is this confusion between Section and Plan that gets much more confusing when adding plants. Since they are growing towards the main light source and in space the main light comes from the side, they would look in the space section the same as in the earth plan.
section in space
section on earth
left image:
plants always grow towards the light; in space the main light influence comes from one side which means that the gardens would grow horizontal
the view outside would always be being in a forest and looking up to the sky
right image:
to have the same effect on earth the visual connection to the outside should be vertical and the plants growing on walls

the landscape in space is on multiple levels and 3d; on earth the landscape sections becomes the floorplan
