Foster's previous work in transportation design made him a logical choice for designing the new Virgin Spaceport. Looking at his previous work you can see how they have influenced how his office has designed the New Mexico Spaceport.
Beijing Airport
"The world’s largest and most advanced airport building - not only technologically, but also in terms of passenger experience, operational efficiency and sustainability – Beijing Airport will be welcoming and uplifting. A symbol of place, its soaring aerodynamic roof and dragon-like form will celebrate the thrill of flight and evoke traditional Chinese colours and symbols."

Canary Wharf Underground Station
"The entire roof of the station is laid out as a landscaped park; the only visible station elements are the swelling glass canopies that cover its three entrances and draw daylight deep into the station concourse. At 300 metres in length it is as long as Canary Wharf Tower is tall. The robust aesthetic is achieved by a simple palette of hard-wearing materials that create the dramatic atmosphere."
