your remark re-minds me, that in an intertwined world, it is highly important
that scientists should be writing poems, and vice-versa, of course .......... -))

I couldn't agree more. I consider the sharp institutional (and cultural) division between 'arts' and 'sciences' to be highly detrimental both to the individuals involved and to the broader human societies of which we're a part. I think a return to Renaissance values would do us good! We haven't had a Da Vinci since, well, Da Vinci! Part of this is due to the sheer genius of Leonardo, of course, but I think it also due to the way in which contemporary societies tend to impose a sharp institutional division between 'arts' and 'sciences', with only limited room for interaction between the two (at least at the institutional level, where such efforts tend to exist at the margins). I wonder what would have happened to Leonardo had he been born today!
