A Strange Experiment: Master and Slave (5)
Project: Emergence and Navigating Space
Project: Emergence and Navigating Space
An experiment of sorts to suggest a situation where the sensory information of two people are swapped. This is just a very preliminary prototype of what could be constructed. A circuit of desire/dependability is formed as person A (inside the chamber) is receiving a simulation of himself driving at a very fast speed in a car. There is a monitor displaying a video as well as four fans that attempts to give the pseudo-realistic impression of one moving through space by another person's physical movements and how those movements effect their body system. The mechanism for the speed of video navigation and strength of the fans are linked to Person B's heartrate. This is measured by a Nonin Medical wireless device. The fans are turned on through Pulse Width Modulation with the Arduino microcontroller.
Person B watches the facial expression of the viewer for cues whether or not to increase or decrease indirect stimulation by altering his heart rate through physical activity.
This way a full cycle of indirect reliance is formed. I'm sure some sort of social critique (?) could be applied to this experiment, but I am still not sure what exactly I'm trying to say. So when viewing this, don't think too much about it. (Maybe).
