Life is about experiencing. There is no one in your life more central as a character than yourself. Therefore, I decided that experiential protagonism is the way forward. What is it? To me it is the essense of life as a living, breathing human being. Every day we interact, learn, teach, experience. From these experiences we grow. Central to this is my beleif that the most important person on my journey is myself. This is far from meaning that I am self centered and egotistical. It is just that I look out for myself first, and then others. What is the point in giving someone who is cold your coat, only to the die of hypothermia?
The Dalai Lama said:
"If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion."
But is it right to sacrifice oneself to alleviate the suffering of others? I think not.
Along with this is my beleif that - taking from various faiths/beliefs/religions - one should do no ill. Or, if you do, do not do any ill that you wouldn't be quite happy if it were bestowed upon you.
Carpe diem. Momento mori.
